Install guide

Installing a wall display.

A wall display hangs on a flat bracket fixed to the wall. Most of the work is choosing the wall fixing and planning where the power and network cables come out.

Time
About 30 to 60 minutes per screen with the cable route ready
People
One person up to about 32 in; two people for 43 and 55 in

Example application. The screen pictured may be another model.

What you need

  • The display and its bracket (in the box where the spec sheet lists it)
  • A level and a pencil
  • A drill and bits for your wall
  • Wall fixings rated for the display weight on its spec sheet, for your wall type
  • A screwdriver set
  • Power at the screen position, and a network cable if the screen will use one
  • A USB stick or microSD card, whichever your model takes, with your first pictures and videos

Before you start

  1. Check the wall: solid masonry, wood studs or a plywood backer behind drywall. Hollow drywall on its own is not a fixing for a screen.
  2. Plan the height. The middle of the screen is usually at about eye level, 1.5 m from the floor, higher where people stand back from it.
  3. Plan the cables first: power, network and any USB stick should reach the connectors without a tight bend, and stay hidden behind the screen or in a raceway.
  4. Keep the vents clear: leave a gap above and below the unit, and do not mount it over a heater.

Install film

Watch it once, then follow the steps.

  1. 01

    Mark the holes

Hold the bracket level on the wall where the screen will hang and mark its screw holes.

  2. 02

    Drill and fit anchors

Drill at each mark and push in wall anchors that suit your wall.

  3. 03

    Fix the bracket

Screw the bracket to the wall through the anchors, then check it is level.

  4. 04

    Run the cable

Bring the power cable to the bracket, and a network cable if you use one.

  5. 05

    Connect and hang

Plug the cable into the display, then lower the display onto the bracket.

  6. 06

    Check it is seated

Make sure the display sits flat and fully down on the bracket before you let go.

  7. 07

    Add your content

Insert the microSD card or USB stick with your pictures and videos.

  8. 08

    Power on

Switch on the power and the screen lights up.

Step 1 of 6

15.6 in wall display, from its CAD. Other models in this guide follow the same steps.

  1. 01

    Mark the bracket

Hold the bracket level at the planned height and mark its holes. Check with the level again after marking.

  2. 02

    Fix the bracket

Drill for your fixings, then screw the bracket to the wall. Pull on it firmly: it should not move at all.

  3. 03

    Connect the cables

With the display face down on a soft cloth, connect power and, if used, the network cable. Route them so they do not pinch between the display and the wall.

  4. 04

    Hang the display

Lift the display onto the bracket, hooks over the bracket edge, and lower it until it seats. Check it is seated on every hook before you let go.

  5. 05

    Lock it

Fit the locking screws where the bracket has them, so the display cannot be lifted off.

  6. 06

    Power on and load content

Switch on. Insert the USB stick or microSD card, whichever your model takes (its page lists the slots), with your pictures and videos, and follow the screen to start the show.

First power-on

Check five things before you leave it.

  1. It shows a pictureThe screen lights and starts within a minute or two of power-on.
  2. The content playsEvery picture and video on the card or stick shows, in the order you set.
  3. It restarts by itselfSwitch it off at the wall and back on. It should come back to the content on its own.
  4. Nothing is loosePull gently on the screen: it does not move on its bracket, clamp or stand.
  5. Cables are safeNo cable is pinched, pulled tight or across a walkway.

If something is wrong

Quick fixes.

No picture

Check the power at the outlet, the connector at the unit and any power switch. Try a known working outlet.

The content does not start

Check the card or stick is fully inserted and the files are pictures (JPG, PNG) or MP4 video. Try a smaller test file.

The picture is the wrong way round

Rotation is a setting in the display. Set it once and the screen keeps it.

It does not sit level

Re-check the bracket with a level. On a stand, check the surface. Do not pack under a bracket; refit it.
