Install guide

Setting up a floor totem.

A totem arrives in one piece and stands on its own base. The job is moving it safely, standing it level, and closing and locking the service door.

Example application. The screen pictured may be another model.

What you need

  • Two people and a clear route from the delivery point
  • The keys for the service door, which come with the unit
  • A level
  • Power within reach of the base, on a route people will not trip over
  • A USB stick or microSD card, whichever your model takes, with your first content

Before you start

  1. Measure doorways and lifts on the route: the totem travels upright or on its back in its crate, and the crate is larger than the unit.
  2. Choose a floor that is flat and firm. Keep it out of walkways where a trolley could strike it.
  3. Plan the power: a floor box or a wall outlet behind it, with the cable covered where people walk.

Install film

Watch it once, then follow the steps.

  1. 01

    Position the totem

Stand the totem on a flat, level floor near a power outlet.

  2. 02

    Check it is level

Lay a spirit level on top and check the totem stands level and does not rock.

  3. 03

    Connect power

Connect the power cable between the display and the outlet.

  4. 04

    Add your content

Insert the SD card or USB stick with your pictures and videos.

  5. 05

    Power on

Switch on the power and the screen lights up.

Step 1 of 6

55 in floor totem, from its CAD. Other models in this guide follow the same steps.

  1. 01

    Unpack it

Open the crate where the totem will stand if you can. Lift it out with two people, by the frame, never by the screen.

  2. 02

    Stand it and level it

Stand it upright on its base and check it is level side to side and front to back. Adjust the feet where the base has them.

  3. 03

    Open the service door

Open the rear door with its key. The connectors and the power switch are inside.

  4. 04

    Connect power

Run the power cable through the cable exit and connect it. Connect the network cable here too if the screen will use one.

  5. 05

    Load content

Insert the USB stick or microSD card, whichever your model takes (its page lists the slots), with your pictures and videos, switch on and follow the screen to start the show.

  6. 06

    Close and lock

Close the door and lock it, and keep the keys with the person responsible for the screen.

First power-on

Check five things before you leave it.

  1. It shows a pictureThe screen lights and starts within a minute or two of power-on.
  2. The content playsEvery picture and video on the card or stick shows, in the order you set.
  3. It restarts by itselfSwitch it off at the wall and back on. It should come back to the content on its own.
  4. Nothing is loosePull gently on the screen: it does not move on its bracket, clamp or stand.
  5. Cables are safeNo cable is pinched, pulled tight or across a walkway.

If something is wrong

Quick fixes.

No picture

Check the power at the outlet, the connector at the unit and any power switch. Try a known working outlet.

The content does not start

Check the card or stick is fully inserted and the files are pictures (JPG, PNG) or MP4 video. Try a smaller test file.

The picture is the wrong way round

Rotation is a setting in the display. Set it once and the screen keeps it.

It does not sit level

Re-check the bracket with a level. On a stand, check the surface. Do not pack under a bracket; refit it.
